Trying to set up and manage one website can be daunting in itself. When you start building numerous websites it can become a nightmare. The following are a few tips and techniques that may help you get things under control and keep everything running smoothly.

When you start building multiple websites to increase your Adsense or affiliate revenue base, how do you keep it from getting out of hand? The first thing you need to do is have some consistent ways on how you set up the account from the beginning. Having a reseller hosting account helps keep your server needs under control.

It will also allow you to set up and maintain different websites quickly and easily. Have a consistent way of creating the user name for each account such as user name = yourdomain123. And then have a common or very similar password for all accounts. That way you won't need to memorize 10, 20 or 100 separate passwords. Even if your websites are about totally different subjects they can still share common elements such as legal and privacy notices. Keep a folder of common elements you can cut and paste into your web designs. Cut and paste are your best friends.

If you are running multiple websites, email for each one can quickly get out of hand. You can set up email accounts for each website through cpanel and then have that email forwarded to one central account. For example you could create an email for support— support@yourdomain.com. Then that email would be forward to a central account such as a Google gmail account. You could create separate folders for each website, then you would be able to view all your support email at once instead of logging into all your accounts separately.

The same could be done for sales, questions, help, etc. You can also set one up for submissions to search engines and directories. You may still need to log into each email account from time to time to clear things out.

Set up a basic webpage that has all your websites and accounts listed. Have a link to each website, cpanel or other control panel login so you can quickly get to each site. List the site descriptions, keywords and urls so you can cut and paste when submitting to directories and search engines. This page should be kept on your local hard drive and opened as a file through your browser. Bookmark it to the top of your bookmark list for easy accessibility. DO NOT load this webpage to any webserver. The last thing you would want is for the search engines to spider all your private information.

Print out a list of all your different websites so you can post it by your computer for easy reference. As you are submitting to various directories and search engines it is easy to forget a website or two. If you have a list in front of you, it is easy to remember, especially if you are running dozens of sites.

The key to running multiple websites is consistency. It is too easy to run in a hundred directions at once and try something different on each web-site. When that happens, everything will spin out of control very quickly and you won't be able to keep up. Instead of increasing your revenue you will be wasting more energy trying to stay on top of everything. Keep it consistent, streamline your everyday maintenance and run more efficient.
